PAST EVENTS

Here are a few of the places we've gone in recent months:

January-March 2008

• Loop hike at Sunol Regional Wilderness to Maguire Peaks, for our feature on ground squirrels, Lord of the Burows: The Incredible, Edible Ground Squirrel.

• A hike at Grizzly Island Wildlife Refuge, part of Suisun Marsh and the subject of our On the Trail feature, Patience Rewarded: Meandering the Marshes of Grizzly Island.

October-December 2007

• A hike on Bob Walker Ridge in Morgan Territory, north of Livermore. This was the favorite walk of the late photographer Bob Walker, celebrated in our photo essay, After the Storm: A Photographer's Open Space Legacy.

• Willow Creek walk south of the Russian River, connected to our On the Trail feature, The Key to Willow Creek: Citizen Rangers Unlock a Sonoma Watershed.

July-September 2007

• A Day by San Pablo Bay, with Bay Nature and friends, connected to History and Habitat at Mount Madonna, for the story At Home off the Range: A Cattle Baron's Refuge at Mount Madonna

• Picnic and Nature Walk at Tilden Park for the Bay Nature article, Nature at the Table: The Many Lives of a Picnic Area.

April-June 2007

• Ring Mountain on the Tiburon Peninsula, for the On the Trail story

• Sunol Regional Wilderness for the feature article, Islands in a Sea of Grass: The Unexpected Life of Stock Ponds
